At 160 pounds, Meech is big enough to make almost anyone look twice, but this enormous Bullmastiff seems completely unaware of just how much space he takes up. Beneath his powerful frame is an affectionate, innocent dog who would happily climb into someone’s lap if given the chance. His owner, Dorit, knows that his size can be intimidating at first, especially to strangers. But spend a little time with Meech, and his sweet personality quickly reveals a much softer side.
Dorit describes Meech as a gentle giant who simply wants to be close to the people he loves. He is sweet, docile, and constantly looking for affection, even if his attempts to cuddle can become a little overwhelming when all 160 pounds of him are involved.
Meech does not seem to understand why anyone would be surprised when he tries to sit on them. In his mind, he is apparently still small enough to be a lap dog, and his affectionate nature often wins people over once they get past his impressive size.
A Big Dog With an Innocent Heart
For all his strength and imposing looks, Meech can be surprisingly cautious around some of the most harmless things. Strange objects such as toothbrushes and massage tools can leave the enormous Bullmastiff feeling unsure and frightened.
That contrast is part of what makes Dorit adore him so much. A dog who might appear intimidating from across the room can suddenly become nervous over an ordinary household object, revealing just how sensitive and innocent he really is.
Meech has also held onto a comforting habit from puppyhood. He likes to suckle on his stuffed toys, gently settling down with them as though he were still the much smaller puppy Dorit first knew. His softer side does not end there. Meech also enjoys wearing pajamas, adding another unexpectedly adorable detail to the personality hidden inside his massive frame. To Dorit, these little habits are simply part of what makes him Meech.
Over time, their relationship has grown into something much deeper than companionship. Dorit considers Meech her best friend and says he has genuinely changed her life. Behind his size is a dog who offers affection, comfort, and a steady presence to the person he trusts most.
Meech’s story also challenges assumptions people may make about large dogs based only on appearance. Dorit believes the stigma surrounding big breeds does not always reflect the individual dog, emphasizing the importance of upbringing, socialization, and getting to know each animal for who they are.
Meech may weigh 160 pounds, but the qualities Dorit treasures most cannot be measured on a scale. To her, he is a loving best friend with an innocent heart, a fondness for pajamas and stuffed toys, and an endless desire to be as close as possible to his favorite person.
